Qur'an Reading to Honor Sidi Mouaz Al-Nass

  • Muslim Space Zoom (map)

As the world celebrated and reminisced upon the conclusion of the blessed month of Ramadan and the sacred day of Eid ul Fitr, not too long after did the Ummah experience heartbreak that was felt particularly here at Muslim Space with the passing of Sidi Mouaz Al-Nass.

Sr. Norishia Al-Sharif will recite Surah Fatihah and Surah Yasin in his honor on Thursday, April 27th at 7:00pm CST on Zoom.

We had the privilege of hosting Sidi Mouaz along with others back in 2018 for a Mawlid event, “A Night of Remembrance,” celebrating the life of the Prophet with nasheeds, performances, and stories. Sidi Mouaz blessed our gathering with his eminence, recitation, and soulful love of the Prophet, in such a way that we will never forget.

May Sidi Mouaz be reunited with his Beloved in the highest stations of Paradise, may his family be given ease during this difficult time, and may we all be united together to once again gather in praise and remembrance of Allah and His Beloved. Ameen.

The virtues of reading Surah Yasin for the deceased are many. Maqil ibn Yasar reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "... and Yasin is the heart of the Quran. No one reads it seeking the pleasure of Allah, the Exalted, and the abode of the Hereafter, except that Allah forgives him. So, recite it over your deceased." This was reported by Ahmad in his Musnad (5/26).
